These two are obviously companion pieces because of the subject matter and the controversy that surrounded them upon theatrical release. But looking at them purely as movies, which one do people like better, or, to put it another way, think is a better-made film? I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now and I really can't decide - each has about the same amount of positives as they do negatives. Thoughts?

One's the best Jesus movie ever made, the other's a snuff film.

Last Temptation is better. But I like to watch the other one when I masturbate.

there is no comparison between the two. the passion is a terrible movie that emphasizes an unimportant aspect of a major religion for the reason of guilt (which makes no sense) whereas the last temptation is a good movie that raises some very interesting discussion.

my thoughts exactly. Last Temptation deals with Christ's ultimate crisis of faith and accepting his place as the son of god. The Passion is a 2 hour visual wank fest with no redeeming thought provoking substance aside from unflinching, purposely shocking aesthetics. bitch

I'll go with Passion. Great imagery, acting, and music. All can combine together to make a good film.

sure it has those things, but due to the overwhelming lack of meaning and the motives of the film, combine together for a well executed exercise in nothing at all

I never saw The Passion, but a movie would have to go a long fucking way to outdo The Last Temptation of Christ in terms of storyline, actor abilities, and directorial prowess.

I didn't realize people disliked The Passion this much.

Oh I don't - I think it's great filmmaking, but as a narrative it's nearly impossible to watch, no matter how desensitized you are to gore. I think it's an important movie, and love it or hate it, people should see it once in their lives. I'm curious to watch Passion and Temptation back-to-back to see how they work together.

The thing I really liked about "The passion" was the androgenous freaky representation of the devil.
