OK, we all got a chance to slag off who we think are the worst actresses working today. Here's the flip side; who do you think are the best actresses?

I'll go with Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore & Joan Allen.

All great picks so far, especially Blanchett. And though I really don't like her, Frances McDormand is an excellent actress. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Jodie Foster is a very talented actress, IMO. I quite like Jennifer Connelly and Kate Winslet too.

That said... hmm. Went to see the great Fiona Shaw in a production of Medea in Dublin and she was phenomenal. Too bad she's wasted in the Harry Potter films... :shake:

her role in Election has made me hate watching her movies, but its only b/c her character was so f'n brutal and she did an amazing job as june carter.

No, I didn't pick her (and I can't recall who did). Her work in Almost Famous is really great though - her role isn't that big, but you can feel her presence throughout the entire film.

yep, and while its smaller, i enjoy her in wonder boys. or perhaps i just really love that movie. i'd throw laurel canyon, north country, and fargo into the equation as well.

I loved Wonder Boys too. Always like to see it get a rare shout out on this board.

I really enjoyed that film as well. Nothing spectacular, but it's a fun little character piece.
