I don't think I have ever participated in a discussion on online games here at RM, so I figure now is a good time to start!

I've been waiting for this game for over 2 years now I believe. The game has just recently gone to pre-order, and I picked up my copy this weekend, it gives you automatic access to open-beta and some other crap when the game comes out.

I have always been off-and-on with keeping track of the games progress, I wasn't aware the closed-beta had started until very recently. I think it has been going on for 1-2 months though. If my guess is correct, that means it should probably go into open-beta in the next 1-2 months, and then 3-4 months after that the game should release. How accurate that is, I have no idea, and delays of all kinds are possible. However, I really think they need to release the game before christmas this year or things would not look good for their business.

My character is going to be a dwarf Rune Priest. I actually played Everquest for a couple years back in high school (99-01) and was a dwarf paladin, then I played a dwarf priest and dwarf warrior in WoW for about a year in 2005. Back in Everquest me and a couple friends actually founded a guild which is still around in WoW, Transcended, and me and some other people are going to start the guild up again for the 3rd time in WarOnline.

Honestly I am pretty much excited to death about this game. I've spent a lot of today reading up on some of the game mechanics and RvR stuff they have planned and it looks fantastic. Don't get me wrong, WoW was an outstanding game and I truly loved playing it, I stopped when I got out of the military because it was time to have a real life, but I'm totally ready to become absorbed in a game again.

So.... anyone else waiting for this?

I really and truly don't get this shit. I took a cyber-philosiphy class in college back in 99' and as part of that we had to participate in an MMORPG. Given, it was probably a lot more primitive than todays games, but...no thanks.
