I've only watched the first half of it so far and I thought it was genius. This is exactly the style of humor I expected based on Colbert's reporting on the Daily Show. So far over-the-top that it's hilarious.

It seemed somewhat directionless and the show bounced around over a slew of topics, and by the end of the show I had the feeling that Jon Stewart might of been a sort of rudder for Colbert.

But Colbert has always been this way with his reporting persona. Look at "This Week in God" or "Even Steven", as examples.. They were all over the place. He was constantly jumping around in his reporting. I think that's the direction he's shooting for with this show. It's a pure spoof of the the insanity, and totally mindless reporting that occurs on shows on MSNBC, FoxNews, and CNN. It's not supposed to be the subtle, highly satirical atmosphere of The Daily Show. He's going for completely off-the-wall mockery.

I don't understand the need for this show. It's basically a half-hour of Daily Show segments. Go back to the Daily Show, Colbert. Then bring back Tough Crowd.

So does this mean no more Week in God, or Colbert in general on the Daily Show? Because that sucks.
And I agree with bringing back Tough Crowd. That was the funniest show on Comedy Central besides the Daily Show and South Park (although I guess thats not saying much).

I thought it was funny as hell. Great show.

i think it's one of the worst shows i've ever seen. i was really shocked because i loved colbert on the daily show. but this, this is just bad. i don't think he can carry a show by himself.

I wanted to stay up and watch it, but I fell asleep.
On a related note, The Daily Show should be an hour long... they could fit so much more into it, and as much as I love it, the half-hour goes by WAY too quickly.
