Excuse me if this movie has been done to death. Just watched it for the first time yesterday. I was expecting it to be yet another one of those "weird for the sake of being weird" movies. But I must say, I fell in love with it. It was beautiful, genius, wonderful.

Plus, now I think I'm in love with Kate Winslet.
She better get nominated for it.

What did you think?

Good. Not great, but good. It's a really great concept though, just not quite executed right.

I thought the movie was OK .. I just think Jim Carey needs to stick to comedy. Overall 3 of 5 stars

currently my favorite movie. Jim Carrey was awesome in this role, and Kate Winslet even more so, as you can see, my sig is the Nietzche quote that Kirsten Dunst recites in the movie

I think the movie is so appealing, because it is the first movie I have ever seen that gets relationships completly right. The idea of loving and hating someone at the same time. The idea that you would fall in love with a particular person over and over again, and end up being completly irritated with them, and breaking up later on. Lost in Translation, and Punchdrunk Love were in the same vein, but I think Eternal got it right, while those other two were just close. I think the people who like this movie have been through a similar relationship, and those that find it boring probably have not. I'm just generalizing, but I think that it is the close personal connection people feel with the film, is what makes it so good. If you haven't been in a similar relationship, then the film in itself may not have much impact.

Everytime i see the beginning of the movie, Joel waking up and driving to work, i think of Sleight of Hand and those lyrics, anyone with me on that?

I went ahead and bought this movie today on my lunch break and can't wait to watch it again. It's one of those perfect movies you're still thinking about, days after seeing it.

this'll sound weird, but i loved it for the simple fact that how jim carrey goes around in his dream state...that's how i dream. i thought it was so weird to see a movie that felt so familiar.

Oh my, how i love this movie. I bought it last week on DVD and i was just as blown away as i was the first time.
Whoever said Jim Carrey needs to stick to comedy....i disagree. He's perfect in that role, and its now my favourite Carrey film, with Man on the Moon coming second.

It sums up relatiionships perfectly, and i love it. A genius film!

everytime after i watch this movie i feel a lil emotional, its the last few minutes of Joels journey through his mind that do it for me, the last scene which is the time that they first met, and she's telling him "what if you stayed this time?" , so then...after i see the movie (its happened all two times i've seen it) i sit outside, smoke a cigarette, and think about stuff, and the first time i saw the movie, i came up with these lyrics, the second time, i came up with the melody, here they are:

The only living thing i feel is the wind
A shaking hand, an emotional mind
These eyes aren't dry
How could they be?
There are lies to truths
I can't tell one from the other
I can turn the page but not forget the book
It's a mess sometimes
Knock on my door, and see the wreck inside
I need an autumn cleaning
I need a soul to shine
A burning tip never injured me
At least not my heart
Yet it is still sighing
Somethings around the corner
But desperation and impatience linger
The headache that forges a release
But i need to see the world
Joel is my representation
Yet even he has his moments
My moments are lost in the gutter
I want to live in some memories
And make new ones just like them
I need that sleep, and a being...
But for now i reture, to the cold in my stomach
And the Emptiness without Clementine

I just watched the movie about two weeks ago and I keep thinking about it. It was so fabulous and I want to watch it again. I started thinking maybe around half-way through that the beginning was the end, but that didn't ruin it in any way- it was done beautifully.

Every time I watch the local weather report on CBS, they mention the temp in Montauk and it kills me. Someday, I'll have to get on this LIRR thing and check it out.
