I have been a faithful HBO fan for well over a decade.. but now that : Oz, The Corner, The Wire, Soprano's and other series are over and not coming back I was thinking about canceling it for Showtime.. We had a free view of Showtime over the weekend and it has a lot of shows that I like.. I was even trying to make a pro's and con's list.. I don't want to pay for both services..
Pro Both have boxing Both have great series
Con To much kid shit on HBO All the good series are over on HBO

HBO has...
Curb Your Enthusiasm Big Love Flight of the Concords
A slew of great original documentaries.
Not to mention HBO has some of the best shows ever made under its belt which only gives it promise for new shows living up to those standards.
Showtime has...
Dexter (I hear is good.) Californication (I loved it, but I don't think it is great by any stretch of the imagination.) Weeds (I hear it jumped the shark. I'll catch it on DVD eventually.)
I personally would go HBO its one of the few places on Television which is constantly providing content that is ahead of its time, rather than just of its time.

honestly, at the moment it may look like showtime is the better option cause some of their regular series are running over the summer. however, once fall rolls around HBO is going to kick in again. entourage will start up, curb perhaps, and a couple really good series like in treatment (maybe), etc.
