Yeah sure it looks manipulative and what not, but how can you deny it? If you can't imagine a material life without an actual human spirit to us all, I don't know what to say. Johnny Depp was originally supposed to play the lead by the way. It's a true story. Real book.

this got glowing reviews on Ebert and Roeper last night. they said it was one of the best of the year and i usually respect their opinions. plus, the book was good, so i'll have to see this.

The part with the glaciers falling apart and the very last part where he's dying keep running through my mind. I had seen Basquiat, but I was totally unprepared for how talented Julian Schnabel is. A few more films like this and he's in the top tier of modern directors as far as I'm concerned. I really need to see Before Night Falls now.

The DVD is out April 29th in the US. Check it out if you missed it in the theater. I wouldn't normally say this, but I want to see this on Blu-Ray.
I want to see this so bad. Shame on me for never making it to the theater to catch it. I was always this close, but for some reason it never worked out.

So it's getting a Blu Ray release? Sweet.
I don't know actually, I just said that because it's the first film I've wanted to see on Blu Ray. I don't see why not though.
