Has anyone been watching the new episodes? My standards were low, but I'm kind of pleased with the overall quality of the eps. Some jokes run a little long, some gags are re-hashed and some characters have done some off the wall and out-of-character actions, but the stories are legit, the plots are interesting and the show is still able to provide laugh-out-loud humor. The one that just aired on Sunday (Marge becomes a carpenter) had a lot of frehs humor to it.

I personally think they're saving their best stuff for the movie next summer. But so far, I like what I've been seeing.
Marge (talking to Fat Tony about his dead wife): Oh! Flowers EVERY WEEK!? Now I wish I was dead.
I think they've already made the movie. But I agree, they probably have been saving up for it. It has to be damn good though, if it's just like the eps it'll get ripped apart by critics/fans. It has to be character-altering or something epic. I expect big things, but if it's not I'm ok with watching an hour and a half episode of the simpsons in theaters.
Oh man, I just thought about opening night, it's gonna break records left and right.

The movie is either going to be the best thing they've done or the biggest pile of shit. Either way, I can't wait.

The season premier was pretty good; no Stonecutters, but it'll do. The one where Bart learns to drum was awesome... for some reason I couldn't stop laughing at the line "My arm! It hurts where the tiger's biting it!"
I thought the last one was awful though... I really can't stand the episodes where Marge gets pissed at Homer for something, and he's forced to think about her feelings. What's the point? I don't get my empathy from the Simpsons.

I agree. Episodes that centre around Marge usually tend to be lacking in the humour department, but over the years I've come to enjoy Marge's optimistic, quirky one-liners. She just seems like some crazy housewife who's in severe denial. I can't really remember any specific quote of hers right now, but every once in a while she'll say something that'll just make me howl. I think it's just me though.
Same with Burns, he might be my favourite character though. The episode where he fires Smithers and tries to do stuff on his own is one of the best.

this season starts here soon, and i'm looking forward to it. they've showed a few previews, the white stripes drumming bit looks hilarious.
