god stop with the spoiler code. i didn't watch till now and guess what? i didn't click on this thread till now.
good episode. really liked that walt walked away (never expected) and that he didn't kill jessie. the last 2 minutes were amazing and had my heart thumping.
i agree, dumb he didn't dump that book, not really believable. also, anyone who has taken a shit doesn't read a book from page 1 - you just open it and start reading.
but perfect cliff hanger. perfect. we now have 8 episodes to see how it plays out. i like that better than hank finding out at the way end and killing walt.
still think walt jr. will be addicted to meth.

I was on the edge of the couch waiting for the explosion or hail of bullets to devastate them in the middle of the meal, but it never came. This show sets the bar for dramatic tension on modern TV.

Hubris and the fact he liked/respected Gail. It will be cool to see if any other loose ends end up damning Walt (other than the cancer).

I wonder how this fits in with the hirsute Walt and his machine gun from the flash forward earlier this season.
He probably needs to make sure he has enough hard evidence to charge him with something first.
I think that, as well as the family angle. Skylar, Marie, Walt Jr... they're all sitting there and all he has to go in is a set of initials?
I can't wait to see how Hank handles this whole thing. I think it's going to be amazing to watch him struggle with himself - his need to be the good cop, the big man on force, and bring down Walt, against his loyalty to his family, his love for Skylar, Marie, Walt Jr and the baby. Some great story potential in there.

keep in mind, Walt isn't going to run anytime soon, so that buys him some time between this family time and moving on Walt. As far as Walt is concerned, he's out with no one to worry about.

Seriously, those moments by the pool were almost unbearable. I had the sickest feeling that Walt Jr. and the baby would get killed. This fucking show gets me every time.

I usually hate when a show nears its end and starts rehashing all the old shit from before. Closing a circle is one thing, but I think finales - even final seasons - sometimes lean too heavily on the past; its emotional manipulation.
This show, however, just delivered a masterclass on how to do it. We basically just got the entire series revisited/recapped/revisited in a loose, liquid, subtle way, while the show marched forward to, what I think will be, the happiest ending it's gonna get.
Did anyone else notice all the ghosts? There were so many shots - the fly, the bug crawling across the stone, the shot of Walt in the shower, the dripping hose (to name just a few) - so many things that we've seen before. So many shots were twins; an homage to the ground we've already covered. I loved it.
And I hope, by doing it now in the mid-season finale, we can put it all behind us, and just plunge forward, battle to the end without having to retread anything else. If that's what they've done here, this show just went way up in my estimation.
