For some time now, my cyblings and I have been trying to remember the name of this movie we used to watch, but for some reason could not seem to come up with the name. I want to figure it out so that I can get a copy of it and give it to my sister as a present, so if anybody recognizes what I'm talking about, that'd be awesome.
I think it's a movie aimed mainly towards kids.
It is about a boy who lives with his grandfather. The grandfather drinks what he calls 'grog.' The kid's schoolteachers are suspicious of the grandfather for some reason and put the boy in foster care. There is also this whole other aspect of it with these pirate-ghosts who are trying to protect their buried treasure.
The foster parents that the kid gets sent to have a wine cellar of some kind, which I believe the pirates raid at the very end of the film.
Also, for some reason, I think it may be Canadian.

Comic Halloween tale for the family has eccentric characters and a flamboyant ideas, but is hindered by run-of-the-mill direction and cinematography, and no real drive to the story. The nastiness and violence, though meant all in fun, seems too much for younger kids.
