I saw this movie back in 2005, and seeing the Lost in Translation thread made me think of it.

A middle-aged man meets this younger woman at a cafe. They awkwardly get to know one another as their relationship blooms and really reveals itself as he takes her to the G-8 summit in Reykjavik.

I really love this movie.

It's really good. Both Nighy and MacDonald give such honest and compelling performances, and I love the atmosphere of this film.

I completely agree with what you said. I need to buy this movie sometime so I can see it whenever I wish.

I've never seen it, but I've read some pretty vitriolic reviews of it.

Really? I don't know. I just know I really enjoy it. I was working at a video store when it came out, and since we receive movies on Monday and put them out Tuesday night I was able to take it home and watch it. Just the cover and the synopsis captured my attention. I wasn't disappointed.
