I'd never heard of him until I stumbled onto A Dirty Job in the audiobooks at the library. It was pretty fuckin' funny. Anyone read his stuff?

Practical Demonkeeping (1992)
Coyote Blue (1994)
Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story (1995)
Island of the Sequined Love Nun (1997)
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove (1999)
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (2002)
Fluke, or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings (2003)
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror (2004)
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, v. 2.0 (2005)
A Dirty Job (2006)
You Suck: A Love Story (2007)

I've only read Lamb and Blood Sucking Fiends. The latter is rough and you can tell he was a new writer. Lamb, however, was hilarious. The mental image of a zen kung foo Jesus is a good one.

Did he read the book for audio? I may check out his recent stuff for a road trip coming up.

I read Lamb. It was alright, but it hasn't made me want to read anything else of his.

No, it was read by Fisher Stevens, but he did an excellent job. I'm sure the naration was responsible for 80% of my enjoyment.

I like this guy. I've read Coyote Blue which I thought was very funny, Bloodsucking Fiends also good, and Practical Demonkeeping, which I liked but not as much.

Finished Lamb. Meh.

Finished Bloodsucking Fiends. Loved it!

Now I've started Coyote Blue.

Started reading Fluke a few years ago, never made it past the first few chapters.

Read Dirty Job, fucking loved it.

Bought Bloodsucking fiends and You Suck, still about 1/4 through bloodsucking, and it's like a year later.

I guess he's hit or miss?

I didn't care for Coyote Blue. It wasn't bad.

I just finished You Suck, and I didn't like the ending at all! I DID like Jared and Abby Normal.

I've been to the last two signings he done outside of philly, if you ever get a chance to go to one, he's funnier than most stand up comics.

oddly enough, I just read Lamb last month. the first 2/3 or so were great. i wish the irreverent tone would have continued through to the end.
