SO my brother brought over the new "Dawn of the Dead" remake.........oh my fucking god. First of all, I dont mind horror shows but I will admit I am a bit of a pussy that way because they have always scared me shitless. Last night Dawn of the Dead was certainly no exception......i couldn't sleep. But it was good dont get me wrong..the parts i saw anyway when i didnt have to go to the "bathroom"

I saw it in the theatre...I love the zombie genre.
I thought it was great...pretty scary, but funny as hell, too. I dragged my wife along (who hates even suspense movies), and even she enjoyed it. I'm renting it again right away (might even buy it).

So is this to be the official Horror Movie Thread or what? If so I will put my two cents in here. I recently watched Shawn Of The Dead, and although its a comedy it still has some good gore, and suspense, but my favourite horror movie of all time is The Shining.

I love horror/gore movies. The cheesier the better as a general rule too. Pretty much all the Leprechaun movies are cool, and Nightmare On Elm Street. I like Halloween movies too but the Friday The 13th ones never much did it for me.

I really want to see the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Heard it was very good actually.

The Exorcist and The Shining rule all.
Nightmare on Elm Street and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre are pretty damn good too.
I've never seen The Shining
Absolute classic. Nicholson at his best. If you're into horror movies, you have to see it.
REDRUM!!!! REDRUM!!!!
Fucking right, that movie kicks ass. My favourite scene in the movie is the one where they just show Jack looking out the window for about 20 or 30 seconds straight. Its just so creepy because he looks so evil and he doesnt move or say anything, he just stands there. My favourite line from the movie has to be... "I don't want to hurt you Wendy, I just want to bash your fucking head in, I'm going to bash it right the fuck in."

I liked the movie, Jack Nicholson was fucking amazing, but overall it just didn't add up. A lot of the "horror" images were for no purpose and the ending explained nothing. Good movie, very atmospheric, excellent performances, but horror just isn't quite Kubrick's thing.

Wrong. "A lot of the horror images were for no purpose"? Re-watch the film. And if that doesn't work, do some research. I'm trying to find a link that has an excellent analysis of the film, but I can't find it right now. When I do, I'll post it here.
