here's the deal: tryinmorning displayed interest in reading sam harris' "letter to a christian nation." i told him i'd send him the book free of charge if he agreed to do the same for another board member after he was done.

the benefit here is that the book is small, so shipping charges will be low, and it's short -- roughly 100 pages -- so it won't take long to read.

whether or not we think this can become bigger, with more books being traded, i don't know. but i think this could at least be a nice little experiment with the book trading hands rather quickly: i finished it spread over one weekend.

after tryingmorning, we already have some people lined up which i've put in order of location to keep shipping costs down. e

lemoncoatedafterworld (iowa, i think)
badradio16 (california)
washing machine (texas)

I'd be up for it too, but I live in Sweden, so I don't know if that'll work?

that might be tough -- i'm unaware of what it'd cost. the reason i'm doing this is because i feel it was a great read and it'd be more beneficial to pass this along than have it sit on my bookcase shelf.

Yeah, I kinda figured. It's not cheap to send packages between US and Sweden.

this is a great idea. i've got a ton of books that are a read-once and move on. i'll compile a list...maybe others who are interested can do the same?

i think its a great idea. plus, i see a lot of people reading the same books all the time in the what are you reading thread, maybe if someone wants to read something without buying it or a lot of people want to read the same book...

good idea. i think if people could get a list together that would be best if we wanted to expand this.

If this were to work, it would have to be an A&E thread.
