I really wasn't too impressed by Ledger in Brokeback Mountain. Not really his fault, I guess, the character was set out to really repress his feelings. Necessarily restrained he was in BM.
But his work on Candy... this is the point where I stop seeing him as that Aussie guy in 10 Things... He was damn good, and so was Abbie Cornish and the supporting cast.
I've seen many a drug film in my time, and I've worked in drug support, so it's not as if the film gave me any new insights. But it was a very well made story about these two people's relationship during all these troubles. The Aussie film industry needs to pump out another 3 or 4 of these quality films a year, and screw the naysayers. If the public doesn't bite, at least the directors and actors and others can look in the mirror and be proud of their efforts.
