Did anyone see Kindom of Heaven this weekend? Any thoughts?

Overall, I was disappointed with the movie, mostly due to the heavy handedness of the 'message.' Plus, it really annoyed me that "IT IS GOD'S WILL' was pretty much the sole plot device of the movie.

Anyone else?

It cost $150 million to make and grossed $20 million the first weekend. God, I hope this is the beginning of a trend.

This is the movie with Orlando Bloom, right? It looks boring as hell.

Can you at ;east get the spelling right??

kindom, kingdome... :P :P

well. i saw this movie before it opened in the US...

it was alright for entertainment, but a bit of a watered down/pc retelling of the 4th crusades..but still enjoyable nonetheless...

i'd recommend anyone interested to get these books to find out the real deal:

Crusades Through Arab Eyes - Amin Maalof

The Fourth Crusades and the sack of constantinople - Jonathan Phillips.

I thought it was great! I love trebuchets so flippin' much. I will say I didn't like it as much as Black Hawk Down or Gladiator, but it certainly is one of the better films I've seen as of late. And I liked how everyone used the "It is God's will" line. It's interesting to me how all the different folks in the film understood "God's will" to be "kill the other guy!" So folly.

My roommate and I thought the trebuchets, the battle scenes, in general) were about the only redeeming things of the movie. One of the problems though was that it seemed like any time the story slowed down there was just some fight sequence.

But I now have an inside joke with two friends. We shout "It's God's will!" sarcastically at each other to justify any mundane action.

"You want a beer?

"Nah, I'm good."

"But you must! It is God's will!"

Fixed the spelling. Twas a typo. Really. I can spell well :)

Did anyone else think the scene of Orlando Bloom washed up on the beach to discover that there were no other survivors but him and a very moody horse a bit far fetched?

It's ok. Had some very bad parts and Bloom doesn't have the charisma or the talent to be a in a role like this. Gladiator is better imo (even if it's kind of a different style of movie).

I read it made about 65 million worldwide. These epic films seem to do alot more business internationally, though American audiences have burned out on them. Even Alexander did decently overseas.

I will probably see it this weekend because I like most of Ridley's work. Though I doubt Scott is even good enough to save the film from the most dull actor working today. Mr. Bloom, please retire and stop ruining otherwise good films.

It's God's Will that everyone I know who has seen this told me it sucks giant balls so it's God's Will that is keeping me from seeing this piece of poop.

I'm going to start using the God's Will line more often. "Why were you late for work?!!!!"

"Hey, man, chill out, it's God's Will."

"Why didn't you turn in that 10 page paper that was due?!!!"

"Hey, man, chill out, it's God's Will."

Saw the movie last night and I was a bit disappointed. The plot was a dry and boring a little and even a bit unrealistic roll played by Orlando Bloom. And you kind of figured out what was going to happen from the start of the movie. No surprises really. I'm not say it sucked because it was good. Just not on the my top 50 llist of greatest movies of all time.

I don't think this looks all too promising, but I will see it because my boy, Liam Neeson, is in it. :D
