Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami

This is my first Murakami book and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Will check out his other stuff after finishing this.

"The Elephant Vanishes" is amazing, if you like short stories. "Sleep" is a great one from that collection, and is available online:

Yeah but I'm re-reading it because I'm teaching it next month. And also I'm interviewing Anne Carson at the end of October

I'm heading to the Wortham Theater tonight to catch a reading/signing from Junot Diaz. I haven't acquainted myself with anything that he's written aside from a short story or two, but I'm really looking forward to it. My sister and I try to make at least one reading from the Inprint Houston reading series a year. Should be fun.

This is where spoken word has a clear advantage over text, Joseph. Are you informing us that you have read this book or are you ordering each of us to read it?

Ah. Good call, friend. I didn't even realize.

Just informing others that I have read the book. And it was delicious. While I think others might get a fair amount of genuine enjoyment from the text, I would never ever demand anyone the novel.

I suspected as much but I figured it wouldn't hurt to make a post about it.

Thanks to your new avatar, half the time I think I'm talking to Pete when I post with you.

Pete said that picture doesn't look anything like him, though.
