I liked "Funny People" a lot. I didn't really see it as a comedy, but a drama about regret and disappointment that just happened to have some funny parts in it. I only saw it once, in an airplane, a couple years ago... but I remember really liking it. Maybe it was the sleeping pills.

It isnt a comedy, its actually a drama like you said, but its just too long and after a nice start everything just gets really boring. Specially with that scene with Eric Bana nearly at the end.

The Last Picture Show for the 742nd time. The perfect movie. The performances by Cloris Leachman and Ben Johnson are so fucking great. The cinematography is amazing. You can taste the grit in your mouth after watching this movie.

My stories are often about the death of tradition in small towns, so I appreciate this story more than anything, but I never have the patience to watch it in one sitting. But yes I agree with everything you've said.

I went to Archer City, Texas and visited Larry McMurtry's bookstore. He wasn't working, but I did get an autographed copy of The Last Picture Show.
