I absolutely loved Do The Right Thing, as evidence by my sig.

I just saw Haneke's 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance. This guy is simply one of the finest filmmakers around. I loved the interview about it too.

Yesterday I saw:

The Wind That Shakes the Barley (Ken Loach)-A small-scale rendering of the Irish civil war that was really effective. Great acting and situations, and very well shot.

Have you seen "Land and Freedom" by Ken Loach ? Great movie, strong acting, almost put me to tears at some moments.

just watched
Go, See, and Become(from Radu Mihaileanu), great movie about the falashas, jews from Ethiopia that are carried in Israël in 1984.
Good filmmaking, some strong moments, moving, if you can give this one a look, don't hesitate.

Tomorrow is a national holiday, so I rented 2 movies:
Magnolia (1999) by Paul Thomas Anderson. I've heard great things about this movie...
4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days... I've heard even better comments about this one.

And on friday I'm going to an alternative movie theater in my city to watch Persépolis... have any of you watched this one?

Oh! I've heard the worst things about this film!! I'm very sorry to hear that, because the book IS SO GOOD! García Marquez is a really good writer... and that one is a great novel.
I'm not planning to watch it (is it okey if I say "I'm not planning on watching it"?)

Yeah, the second one is correct.

And I love that author as well, but the adaptation was just awful.

I'm in the middle of watching a bunch of related things. I'm re-watching all of the episodes of Lost Seasons 1-3. I'm watching all of the episodes of Arrested Development. I'm also one third through Leone's Once Upon a Time 'trilogy', and two thirds through the first three Die Hard movies.
Other upcoming watches include In Bruges, and The Bank Job when it becomes available next week.
I also sort of feel like going through all the Pixar movies again, since Wall-E was so great. I'll probably hold off on that until I have more time to spend with the girlfriend or a small child, so as not to seem like a COMPLETE dork to everyone who knows me. :D

I still have Magnolia for today :)

"watched Straw Dogs this evening."

this movie is fucking brutal. i absolutely love peckinpah and this movie is as intense as anything hes ever done. for about 80% of the movie u just wanna punch dustin hoffman for being such as wuss. I like The Wild Bunch a little bit more but Straw Dogs might be the better film.

i saw that. not sure how i feel about it, the controversy over how they would redo the infamous rape scene would be intense.
