Anybody know if this is still in the works? There is basically no chance of it being as good as the first but the idea really has potential if it covered events from the 80's to present time.

Last time I heard anything about this was a year ago. I really hope this never happens.

I read the sequel book. It is terrible. There's no way the movie would be any good. It is basically an 80's/early 90's rehash. Some parts were funny. Like when Reagan was sleeping and Forrest didn't want to wake him up, so he unwittingly agreed to the Iran-Contra arrangement.

The original book ends differently than the movie too, so that'd be wierd. And the spirit of Jenny visits Forrest throughout the book giving him advice, etc. Pretty lame. I read it after a hurricane a few years ago when we had no power for 2 weeks.

I agree. I guess the producers are figuring if they make another movie packed with songs and historical events baby boomers can relate to they'll make a killing once again.

Well the movie could be much different than the book kinda like the first one was. I hated the book for the the original movie.

You mean Gump and Co., Christ that was awful, and I was 12 when I read it. Dude, between this, the canada thread and your professed love for the 69 Boyz, I don't know what the hell to make of you.

I think in the sequel, Forrest comes with the recipe for New Coke.

If anything, shit like Forrest Gump is good for reminding people how homogenized everyone has become.
