Per the discussion in the current Movie of the Week thread, this is a way to expose people to movies they'd otherwise never see. Basically, we decide on a movie that we'll be discussing in a week or two, so that anyone interested can get the film from netflix, rental stores, libraries, whatever, and be ready when the time comes. If no one minds, I'd like to pick the first film: Let's Scare Jessica To Death.
It's a (very) low budget horror flick from the early 70s. Jessica, having recently suffered from some sort of psychotic breakdown, moves a huge old apple farm in the country with her husband and a friend, only to discover that the place is already occupied by a female squatter. They befriend her and invite her to stay, but Jessica soon begins to wonder whether the girl (and the decidedly unfriendly townsfolk) are part of some sinister conspiracy to do her harm. Is her illness responsible for her suspicions, or does the mysterious girl have evil intentions?
I don't exactly know how much time we'll need to let everyone a chance to see the film. Any suggestions?

I had the chance of seeing this great indie British film called "This Is England" (2007). It takes place in Nottingham in 1983 at the peak of the skinhead culture. It begins with a young boy, Shaun, getting sick of being picked on in school. One day, he stumbles upon a group of people whom he immediately identifies with. The movie follows the ups and downs of his journey into the unknown. This is good example of how independent movies should be done. Great film-making all around. Here's the trailer:
If you can't find the dvd anywhere, I can b&p it for you.

I really like this idea.
So it's Let's Scare Jessica to Death then?

As far as everyone getting a vote, I say we just do it like the Song of the Moment is handled in OB. One person picks, then passes it on to the first person who shows interest in picking the next one. Voting would be kind of time consuming, and I think it might tend to favor movies people may end up seeing anyway.

I'm pro Let's Scare Jessica to Death. We didn't get to do half of our horror MOTW's in October due to the board being down, and I haven't seen this one yet and it would give me a good excuse to do so. So if we're voting, that's my vote. How long should we take between movies? A couple of weeks for folks to Netflix and watch them seems reasonable.

It could be worse.
