Plus it's Cruise and Spielberg. Hard to go wrong there.

I strongly disagree. And th etrailer has absolutely zero appeal to me. It was so full of clichés... almost unbearable.

I'll probably go see it just because i loved the original.

I was going to say, NO, but having remembered how great Minority Report is, I can't bring myself to it. Spielberg and Cruise have had their share of shit films though, and I'm sure this will be horrible. Has anyone seen the original? One of the biggest copout endings ever. Its terrible.

They've been shooting scenes for this in Athens, NY the past couple weeks and I live about 45 minutes away in Albany. This lady came in to Kinko's, where I work, last Saturday and ordered a crapload of vinyl banners, telling us it was for this movie. They all read "American Red Cross" on them. I'm assuming they were props of some sort.

So, if you see any Red Cross banners in the background when this movie comes out, I printed 'em.

I also had some guy come in yesterday and make like 2400 black-and-white copies for their trip to Virginia, where they're apparently going next for more shooting.

Yeah. I'm lame. But I think it's kinda cool.

Parts of it are being filmed in Athens, New York near where I live. I have to watch the coverage on the news every night.

I love the original. I thought the ending was rad! Stinkin' no-good Martians!!

They already remade this movie... it was called Independence Day.

Oh man, the original SCARED me. I made my mother sleep on the floor next to my bed until I went to sleep, when I was 10 after I watched that. She held my hand, from the floor. She said the next day, that her arm had gone numb.

The original has always been one of my favorite movies ever. That trailer doesn't show much... but I bet this movie is going to be awesome.

Probably won't be that great, but I'll go all the same, I'll give anything Spielberg does a shot.

Looks pretty good i guess. I will see anything that Spielberg does anyway.

That trailer looks absolutely incredible.

I'm always concerned that the trailers show the best of a film as a tease and get one's hopes up, only to be disappointed later. Nevertheless, in this case, I fail to see why War of the Worlds would need to be remade - it was perfectly find in its original form. They should just release the original film into theaters. F remakes of "classics" - Spielberg should find some people who can actually write ORIGINAL screen plays, or adapt something from novel to film that hasn't aready been done (Like The Book of Merlin by T.H. White). I probably won't go see it, but if it happens to show up on television some day while I'm flipping channels I might stop to take a look at it.

I checked out all the trailers actually. I loathe Tom Cruise and don't care for Spielburg's work (nor Ron Howard actually), so even though it is undoubtly going to be visually impressive, it will most likely not be enjoyable to me. I find it difficult to have any empathy for any of Cruise's characters because in most all of his films his simply playing the roll of an ass-hole, so to find him believeable as a "working class family man" is really a stretch for me.

The little girl, however, looks like she is giving a brilliantly done performance for a child her age, and I hope she gets some sort of award for her efforts. Speaking of which, I also find it difficult to watch children (or animals) in distress onscreen and do not find it entertaining (the Carol-Ann character from Poltergeist comes to mind,....and Boomer the dog from ndependence Day. Such distressed characters impact me too emotionally to be entertained by their distress).


I have a feeling that the original message from the original fillm relative to or place in the universe, unity, etc. is going to be lost, or manipulated to a "Spielburg" style agenda, which I find when he does it, simply in poor taste and redundant.


I'm going to save my money and go see Sin City instead. Frank Miller is incredible.
