I adore Eddie Izzard, btw. Not as "cutting" as Rock, Carlin, and Black, but damn good, and amazingly intelligent. I adore him, especially when he does the "historical" stuff.

He is a god. In Oct 03 I saw Lewis Black, Dave Attell, and Mitch Hedberg all on the same bill. One of the funnies nights of my life.

i like mitch hedberg..my frined just copied his dvd for me..i like his skit where the guy in the club was bitching at him about standing in front of the fire exit..and he says..what, if theres a fire do you think im just going to stand here!

Dane Cook is hilarious.

But Hedberg can't be compared to the rest of them. I adore Mitch and his comedy, but it's completely unrelated to the comedy of Black and Carlin. It's tough to compare Hedberg to most comedians, because his style isn't anything like that of most people.

That being said, Carlin's a god, a true father of stand-up. Lewis Black is funny, but he's nowhere near Carlin. George Carlin set standards, revolutionized comedy. Lenny Bruce, Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin are on a plane above all other comedians just because of how bold and groundbreaking they are/wer. Chris Rock is hilarious, as is Dane Cook. Those two are two of the brightest comics out there right now and have the potential to be two of the funniest comics we've seen in a long time.

I saw the Lews Black/Dave Atell tour last year for New Years eve. I LOVe Lewis Black - but the opening acts, Mike Berbiglia (sp?) and Mitch Hedburg RULED the show. Dave DRAGGED and by Lewis black, my boyfriend had actually fallen asleep.

Steven Wright's style is somewhat like Hedberg's... or Hedberg's is like Wright's, whatever... closest i can think of
