after being a marvel zombie for the past 36-37 years of my life, i have to say, Green Lantern is a movie that needs to be made.

the premise would lend itself well to the big screen as would the "power"

a brief review for those not familiar with GL

at the begining of time, the guardians of the universe felt that allowing emotions into their thought process would only taint any decision they would make so they made it illegal for any of them to feel emotions. in order to safe guard the universe they created robots to police each sector of the known universe, for a total of 3600 sectors

once the robots (manhunters) rebelled, they created a police force known as the green lantern corps to patrol each sector. each lantern was given a power ring that draws upon the emotional spectrum, in this case green for will power, and can create a variety of effects. from simple to complex contructs to ray blasts and being able to view what is behind walls as well as be used as a communicator.

for the longest of times, sinestro was deemed the lanterns lantern and everyone strived to be like him.

hal jordan was chosen to be a green lantern when abin sur was critically wounded and the ring he had seeked out a being who could overcome fear. hal being a airforce pilot, and having watched his father die while flying a plane at an air show, fit the bill to a T.

after his training hal, in some minds, overtakes sinestro as the best GL around and this cause sinestro to rebel agains the GL mantra and he soon fashions a ring of yellow, the color in the spectrum of fear.

for the longest time a green ring can not function against the color yellow, and this is explained later on.

there was actually much talk about ryan reynolds doing this movie, and he even lobbied for it a few years ago

the tv show had the good premise, but that costume was just fucking horrible. never ever ever shade a costume to make it look muscular

not to mention it was maroon.

I don't see how they could possibly fuck up a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie.

in fairness though, some colors for a costume do not look good at all in tv/film, hence why the raised spider webs on spiderman. i thought the maroon looked stupid for superman and as great as singer was for the xmen (though i still enjoyed x3) they need to replace him for the next supes

i thought Daredevil's suit looked fine and that is Maroon.

they should do the old school flash with the wings on the helmet

actually they need to do a shitton more superhero movies so they can eventually do crisis on infinite earths

Flash must be one of most overpowered comics characters. Its ridiculous the amount of bullshit that the author came to explain how he can run faster than light.

we need more Deadpool in our lives

thats next on my list of things to buy crisis on infinite earth. ive read the follow ups and enjoyed em (52, infinate crisis) and will get final crisis in trade paperback

i need to read them again, i haven't read them in probably 17 years

i moved all my tpb and hard covers to their own shelves. i have wayyyyy to many, and if guys like john cassidy, ivan reis and brian hitch would quit making such great drawings to tell a story, i wouldnt have so many.

planet hulk might be my fave followed by, identiy crisis, messiah complex, supernovas and the new avengers and the green lantern rebirth (sinestro wars, wanted and secret origin)
