I Feel It

They line up the heroes
Building them without the tales of sorrow
The innocent George Bush today
The vilified John Kerry tomorrow

And the bodies roll in
But no one gives a damn
"It's in another country
And I'm safe!"

Everything according to plans

Consequence or coincidence
Didn't seem to matter
Atheists or evangelicals
But all are made from the same baby batter

And the sicknesses come to make the sky brown
From all the shit that's flying
Being spewed by political clowns
No middle for those who need it, little truth in this world of doubt

Everything according to plans

And there's still hope from those who have mind
Do their taxes
Dot the lines
Their innocence is to be revered

Unfortunately, their fortunes often skewed
To these fat cats that are so misconstrued
That a dollar in the guy's at top pocket
Somehow means that the guy below
Can start to look at more
And feast his eye sockets

One day the lie won't persist
And it won't be Democrats and 'Pubs ruling
But rather some great kid with zits
And we Americans won't have to listen to forcefed shit
Of what a confused America "needs"
'Cos that's often bullshit

Tell them I'll be picking my fights
And standing up for my own rights
2017, I'll be strolling down Pennsylvania Ave.
With a new address and a new view

I feel it.

This line seems a little uneven to me.

I like the general tone of the second-to-last stanza, but I think it should have ended there. I don't quite grasp the last few lines. Are you going to be running for President soon, J?

It reads much more like song lyrics than poems to me.

Sometimes we mis-spell stuff and just tell you Americans 'it's how we spell it here'

Is the verb addition a little better in the edit? I just didn't know what was bothersome to you. I just dropped the verb 'cos I thought it was a little more poetic. But whatever. I think it's alright anyway I work it.

Yea, I told everyone on the Democratic Party thread in News and Debate that I'm running for President in 2016. I figure, it's time for a thirty-six year old to have that seat. I'm going to work it. I'm going to start submitting papers to the Democratic National Comittee and try to wake that party up with some goodness.

God bless,

Jared
