Well based off the previews it looks pretty cool. Has anyone read the book by stephen king and can tell me if they think this movie is going to be worth watching?

Frank Darabont really needs to start reading other authors besides King.

I'd rather Darabont adapt King's stories than most other directors out there. It's not like The Mist is anything like Shawshank or Green Mile in terms of tone or themes. I'm excited about any Frank Darabont film.

If King wrote good stories, i'd be on board with you.

I personally love the fact that The Mist looks really retro. It's Hollywood today making it look like an older King film, which is different from the original old King films (Did that make sense?) I have seen two Darabont films and it's a big 2 for 2 on my scale. I'm excited

The ending took it up a notch for me actually. Nice to see them not go the Hollywood route for once.

I haven't seen it, so don't spoil it, but is the ending different from the book?

The ending was shock for shock sake. I'm all for non-hollywood endings, but not on hollywood movies. This was a horror movie, cautionary tale about messing with other dimentions, light, not serious subject matter, and then to end it like that was fucked. Imagine Shawshank ending with Andy and Red hugging on the beach and then a bounty hunter shoots them, roll credits.

That's exactly what it was. The whole movie leads you to believe in not giving in to paranoia or fears with some good monster movie, popcorn thrills. Then it goes for a cheap twist, like some wannabe film maker being smarter than the audience.

i liked the ending... my roommate was telling me that darabont took a lower budget for production in exchange for complete control (i.e., don't fuck with his ending).
