After the crushing (sort of) box-office bomb that was his latest film "Zack and Miri Make a Porno", indie cult film icon Kevin Smith explains his views on the internet and why these days he'd rather fuck his wife than worry about what some troll has to say about how she looks.

He also sheds some light on his decision to direct the new Bruce Willis comedy, "A Couple of Dicks".



Smith famously went after a number of bloggers in 2006 when the sequel to his highly-regarded cult hit "Clerks", "Clerks II", came out to relatively lukewarm box office success.

I'll grant that by and large, the talkbackers at a place like AICN are a pretty sad bunch. And that simply can't be pleased. Going out of your way to rag on his wife's looks, or anything about his kid, that's pretty lame and uncalled for. At first I was thinking maybe the complaint was about his wife in the movies, but which I was gonna say, welllll... if you do keep putting your wife in your movies just because she's your wife, and she can't act at all, then yea it's reasonable to hear that kind of criticism. But I don't get the over inflated ego comment at all, he actually seems fairly humble to me.

A couple years ago I heard him talk about how he met the woman who would be his wife. She was a journalist sent to do a article on him. When she came in to do the interview he couldn't believe how attractive she was. Then, about halfway through the interview he started to realize that she was laughing at his crude, badly timed jokes. Toward the end of the interview he's in disbelief. They're flirting back and forth. How is this hot chick even remotely attracted to my fat ass? He said. It was pretty damn funny hearing him talk about it.

It's a great story man

I'll agree with Smith being more humble than having an over-inflated ego. If you've seen any of his "evening with" dvds he's always bashing his own films and deliberately telling people that he could never make anything like huge blockbuster films. He knows what he does well (or somewhat well) and sticks with it. That's hardly an over-inflated ego

His wife is cute, and yes for a fat dude like him she's pretty damn hot.

those evening with KS dvds are great. and for those who think he's an ego maniac, watch these and you'll realize he's one of the most down-to-earth and self-depricating famous people out there.

One might argue releasing three DVDs of people asking you questions about your career might be ego-inflating.
