Just rewatched this for the first time since it traumatized me for life when I was 10. Still fucking terrifying. What makes it worse is that it's basically a mediocre generic mystery-drama (complete with inexplicable mysterious Indian) and then suddenly veers into HORRIFYING ALIEN SHRINK WRAP EYE TORTURE before returning back to boring. I already had a thing about aliens before I saw this as a kid, but I swear I did not sleep for days after seeing this in theaters.

Ugh.

I think that this is one of those movies that did damage to a lot of kids growing up.

believe it or not I found them encountering the UFO in woods to be the most horrifying. B movie or not, that part in the woods was well done, I thought

bart, read Communion by Whitley Strieber some night when you absolutely don't want to go to sleep. The movie version was a little meh though.

Yeah the abduction part ruined my life as a kid. I'm kind of glad it's held up but I'm also kind of bothered that it's actually that scary.

Now, i know this may be a little out there, but another good book is "Operation Trojan Horse" by John Keel (wrote and documented the Mothman Prophecies).

Keel suggested that "ufos" are not "aliens" from outerspace but interdimensional beings (Indiana Jones anyone?).

Whitney Strieber said of his "Communion" experience, "After what happened to me, the Communion experience, is that I thought that it might be a good idea to accept the idea of the Devil, if in case that is what I saw...if you look closely at the life of the world, you see the workings of evil in the world. There seems to be a sort of machinery behind it all that is beyond the acts of human life."

that is some fucked up talk right there.

I saw this movie on acid once, not reccommended. I've always been freaked out by aliens and UFO's and this movie just freaked me out more.

this movie turned me off having latex stretched over my face, motor oil scooped into my mouth and burning needle drills put in my eye forever.

I saw this on HBO a few weeks back. I was flipping channels and found it 20 minutes in and watched the entire thing. That needle in the eye thing was horrific.

Well it's based on a true story, no?

And yea I've not seen it in years and years either, now I got a hankering for it.
