See, that's why I didn't give an answer. I've seen the sequel recently but it's been ages since I saw Alien. I'd buy the boxset if the other movies didn't suck so much dick.

Ressurection is comedy gold.

I watched part of Ressurection on tv last night, drunker than a monkey. It is pretty bad, though I've only really seen it once.
I'll take Aliens please.

Alien is the better movie.
That's why I wanted to say Alien in my initial post, but I recall being much more entertained by the second one. Without having seen either recently, I'd have to call it a toss-up.

They're pretty different movies, Alien having more suspense and build up and Aliens just bringing the thunder on an action level.

Alien. Definitely
I mean I like Aliens, but there is some dumb stuff in Aliens that we only forgive because it's an action movie (Game over man! GAME OVER!). Alien, though, is one of the most perfect sci-fi/thriller movies of all-time.

Alien is probably the better movie in the all-time pantheon of film excellence, but the lasting impact Aliens has had on American film is pretty remarkable, though I don't think anyone has come close to matching the near-perfection of Cameron's film.

This thread inspired me to rent these two movies last night, so I went to the local Blockbuster to do so. They had Aliens and the two sequels, but don't carry the original, Alien, at all.

Seriously frank, it's time for a Netflix membership. You can't go to Cockbuster and expect them to have what you want.

It seems like you tell me this about once a month, and probably for good reason. I'm a stubborn bastard sometimes.
The point is that I found it quite strange that they had all the Aliens except for the original. This same Blockbuster store also only has Star Wars and Empire (no Jedi), which confused me a bit. I guess the manager doesn't care for Ewoks.
