It's the only one I've ever seen that I didn't hate

I know it well yet never actually seen it (long story)
But yeah, it's the only one I actually even want to see.
At least it's consistent, as the whole thing is music. Bit like Shakespeare, it's weird at first but you get used to the 'language' after 5-10mn.
I hate the ones where people talk then suddenly break into songs.. ok, Sondheim isn't too bad that way, because it's generally witty rather than soapy. Into the Woods is a good one.

I don't do musicals either, but this one isn't sugar-coating the book (I know it both in french and english, and the english version is very close to the french, but better on stage from what I understand, because French only started doing musicals the way brits do a handful of years ago, Les Mis was years ahead in that respect but still was improved...damn, reminds me I had the original french vinyls, got to try locate them)

ROTFLOL. I saw this in London in '06. Fuck, those wood chairs were awful. Did you feel a gentle caressing from behind during the second act? If so, that was me. :luv:

I fucking love this musical. I really listen to this 4-5 times a week. I highly recommend it. The Alain Boublil version.

love it, i have it on my itunes (the 10th anniversary at royal albert hall). as a kid, i watched this on pbs with the folks. the performances are all very strong, particularly 'on my own', among others.
