As I guess many have noted here, Im a big fan of the book. And yesterday I finally watched it.
A quite good effort, not very ambitious, but what it does, it does quite well. The acting is quite good and Im glad the filmmakers felt it was ok to show Julia's hairy pussy.

I a couple of complaints:

1 - WTF of pronoucing Goldstein as "Goldsteem" ?

2 - The Minister of Love. It looked too gloomy and decadent, when, according to the book, it's the only thing that the Party really cared about being efficient and it should look all nice and sharp, the torture room looked like a scenario of a Saw movie. Also it was a bit forced to "mix" all the political prisoners of the book that Winston interacts into Parsons only. Oh yeah, the stretcher machine replacing the electricity machine was also lame and unnecessary.

The movie isn't nearly definitive enough to change how you read the book. At least it wasn't for me.

Agreed.

I remember reading that a new 1984 movie is being planned. I think the telescreen will make more sense in a flatscreen design...

The actress who does Julia is very pretty (or at least was), angelical face, but not curvy.
