finally after a longer than anticipated wait, i was able to watch this movie today. riveting story and direction (from jonathan demme, direction that is, not screenplay). this was one of the most complex, developed family dramas i've seen. watching this family in such despair but in the middle of an equally beautiful ceremony (and demme goes all out, visually and musically in his conception of the wedding) i felt as conflicted as his characters. and there is some neil young magic to boot

I saw this in LA about a month ago by myself and loved every minute of it, even if it was kind of a downer movie when I was looking for something a bit more upbeat. I think I saw Happy go lucky the next day but that movie kinda sucked.

I knew she was gonna get somethin for this role.
The Golden Globe nominees for best actress in a drama are Anne Hathaway ("Rachel Getting Married"), Angelina Jolie ("Changeling"), Streep ("Doubt"), Kristin Scott Thomas ("I've Loved You So Long") and Kate Winslet ("Revolutionary Road").
AND another one just cause I'm crushin on this chick

Hathaway's career is so damn bizarre.
You go from Rachel Getting Married to... Bride Wars?
Matt Damon: Hey shove it, Bounce-boy. Let's remember who talked who into doing this shit in the first place. Talking me into Dogma was one thing, but this...
Ben Affleck: Hey look, I'm sorry I dragged you away from whatever-gay-serial-killers-who-ride-horses-and-like-to-play-golf-touchy-feely-picture you're supposed to be doing this week.
Matt Damon: I take it you haven't seen Forces of Nature?
Ben Affleck: You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him. [They both take a beat and look at the camera]
Ben Affleck: And sometimes, you have to go back to the well.
Matt Damon: And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games.
Ben Affleck: See, that's just mean.

I see that and I raise you one.
Matt Damon: Ah there. Finished. Good Will Hunting by Matt Damon.
Ben Affleck: Hey, uh, you think we could put both our names on there?
Matt Damon: What? You've done nothing but eat Breyers and smoke pot for the last six months.
Ben Affleck: Oh that's ridiculous! C'mon, I helped.
Matt Damon: Oh yeah? Okay, uh, write a line. Just, just right now, just pitch me a line. Right now.

The only real bad thing about this movie was the excessive dance scenes.
I actually really liked those because it showed that Rachel actually got the wedding she wanted ands that her sister could back off and not make it about her for a few hours. Great way to unravel the tension of the first part of the movie.

It might've lightened the tension between the two sisters, but Kym spent the entire dancing sequence looking for her mother and trying to catch here eye.
I just think the scene went on a bit too long, especially with those belly dancers.
