the problem is too many characters are tied into movie/marketing deals. noone in their right mind were convinced that cap was dead, but they did a good enough job in the interim. had there not been a movie in the works, they could have kept it going for a while.

a great death/resurrection was piotr rasputin. espcially the way the tricked everyone into believing jean grey was the one being brought back with the leaked image

:( I liked him.

And the Colossus coming back was pretty good.

I stopped reading X-men a while ago did they ever bring Kitty Pryde back?

I'll pick up some TPB to get caught up sooner or later I was just wondering if she got out of that rocket or whatever Joss Whedon did to her.

She is, but she stuck in her phased form.

True I really didn't like how Thanos Imperative finished up, but I don't know how else I would have liked it done.

same. If anyone has an iDevice, spend the $5 and treat yourself to the Comic Zeal app for your torrents. It's pretty awesome to walk around with hundreds of comics on your cell phone. I finished The Walking Dead up until the current issues, now I'm into Y: The Last Man. Then I have like 5 years of Hellboy to read.

Quick, someone recommend a good Avengers run that will get me primed for the movie.

This is what you want:
The Ultimates #1-13
The Ultimates 2 #1-13
by Mark Millar & Bryan Hitch

The Gods & Monsters is the TPB of issues 1-6 of Ultimates 2. Not sure what the Liberation is.

i had it in a book called son of origins. the collection can be found here

that will get you set for the movie, if what is being leaked is true

if you want a fresh take on the avengers, look up ultimates [ur=http://www.amazon.com/Ultimates-Vol-1-Super-Human/dp/0785109609/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1305419771&sr=1-3l]here[/url]
