the end of "in america" gets me every time.

the last scene in chinatown is absolutely devastating. sad in a frightening way.

windedsailor's video is the first scene that came to my head.
Some others I can think of:
When Adrien Brody comes out of the river in Darjeeling Limited.
When the old doctor steps over the foul line in Field of Dreams.
When Lee Pace almost dies in The Fall.
Probably a good half hour of I am Sam.

the saddest parts of titanic are

1) Vasques in her cabin telling a bedtime story to her children as they are about to drown.

2) Rose being on the life boat with the flares going off over jack's head. And she jumps back onto the sinking ship to be with him.

Before the Devil Knows You Are Dead is a 2 hours long sad scene.

This fucking kills me.

There's tons of really sad scenes in Lord of the Rings, especially the one right after the battle in the field in Return of the King, or when Faramir is shot. But the winner, hands down, the one that made me sob like a baby:

The end of Dead Poet's Society.

No one probably knows this movie, but I remember watching it multiple times as a kid and crying multiple times, especially with this last part. It's a pretty cheesy movie though.

The video is quite ridiculous, since it's dubbed in spanish and I couldn't find an english one.

Nice thread, and excellent posts.

*edit* Wait, this part isn't actually sad, it's the happiest part, but still a cryfest (for me at least) but happy tears then. I'm too lazy now to find the saddest parts.

I always get a little misty when Forrest Gump's mama dies. Jenny too.
