I can see how people would like this but I don't find myself laughing at it.
My wife thinks a lot of the humor is delivered too fast or is too complicated for most viewers, but I disagree. No need to diminish the writing quality to keep viewers when you can just put Sophia in tighter tops.
These are pretty solid 'dad' jokes from last weeks episode:

This show falls into a lot of the tropes of other sitcoms but the strong characters set it apart. It's definitely one of the best traditional sitcoms on TV right now.

I thought it had been getting a little lame lately, but last night's episode had a lot of good zingers.

Unfortunately a lot of ensemble comedies get a little stale after a few seasons if the characters don't evolve or change.
My wife and I used to grown last season whenever they ended the episode on some sugary, emotional, heartstring life-lesson. They started that last season, and it sucked.

FTFY
I concur, though - reminds me of Full House when they do that.

I love Al Bundy as much as the next guy but the other guy, the meme guy a couple of posts above? He is a fucking irritating douchebag.
I think he's just about the funniest character on network TV, Schmidt on new Girl is a close second, though I realize tastes vary. For example I find Big Bang Theory and The League to be stupid and unfunny to the point of being basically unwatchable but they seem to be very popular.

Max on Happy Endings is the funniest character on network TV.

The show's still quite good, and prob the best sitcom on air right now. Its not at season 1 or 2 levels, but still reliably funny. The zingers are still there.
One of the very few shows I'm committed to watching every week.
