AD is seriously overrated. This thread is proof. It was a great show, no doubt, but c'mon. As an AD fan, I'm more than satisfied with Modern Family. Again, not that they're similar.

This show is OKAY. at best.
It's way better than ok. It's easily the best sitcom in years.
And I think it's better than AD was, though I agree they aren't similar.
*ducks and runs*
The fact you are agreeing they arent similar makes your statement okay. AD NEVER tried to do anything other than be funny. It was LAUGH. Repeat. No moral, no happy family moments. Obvious political statements- but always as jokes. Granted i disagree entirely, as to me a sitcom is all about the funny. If i want family moments, ill watch a show like Parenthood. Perhaps Scrubs is a better comparison to this show, while funny, it attempted to have a moral each week. I prefered Scrubs to this, as the humor was a little more pronounced.
and its okay to have attractive people on a show, that doesnt make it unfunny, or incapable of being funny... But 3 of the most laugh out loud funny shows of our era Seinfeld, AD, Curb- none of them had a major cast member playing "the hot one" (like the busty latina on Modern Family). Sure Cheryl Hines, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Portia DeRossi are attractive, but they were cast because they were FUNNY- i dont think you can say the same for the latina chick (even if she is funny, thats not what got her the role). Hell even 30 rock has marignally attractive Tina Fey, but the only charecter you could consider HOT is Cirie (and that IS the joke).
I didnt HATE modern family. I hated the Arrested Development comparisons, but to me this was a 6/10, slightly above average sitcom.

It is well deserved, though I was surprised to see Cameron beat out Phil and Mitchell for Best Supporting Actor. His is probably the broadest comedy in the whole show. He's still funny for sure, though.

Same with Jane Lynch but that's typical of the Supporting Comedy Actor/Actress. Think Jeremy Piven, Michael Richards, Sean Hayes, John Larroquette, Christopher Lloyd, Jamie Pressley, Megan Mullaly, Kristen Johnson, Christine Baransky, Laurie Metcalf and Estelle Getty. Even David Hyde Pierce's wins were for the more farcical Fraiser episodes. I think Ty Burrell probably should have been in the Lead catergory. But I was very happy to see Jim Parsons win there.

Phil is my favorite too, but I think that the guy who plays Cameron did deserve to win. Although I don't find Cameron as funny as Phil, I think that Cameron's role is more difficult to play.

Yeah, I agree. I really liked the Clown episode with him.
