Going to see this today. Read an interview with the director and he said that their camera crews couldn't keep up with the speed of the live action of these guys. They were used to filming and then speeding things up in edit. At first I thought this had the chance to be cheesy, but it looks like it was well put together.

I'm assuming most of the older audience today was also former military. Knowing that these guys were active duty really made the movie have an emotional attachment for me. It appeared as though it did for the rest of the audience too.

So was the plot and characterization really as weak as the reviews are saying?
I mean, it's a SEAL team on a few missions. Not much character building to go on, these guys aren't "actors". I think they had just the right amount of connections to their personal lives without getting too involved. It was a good ol' shoot 'em up movie, just with real SEAL's.
I would much rather see that than the recycled Arnold/Bruce/Cruise/insert up-and-coming actor movies that seem to be everywhere.
With that being said, if they would have had these real military members battling aliens, that would have been top notch.
