9 was a letdown for me, but listening to the soundtrack kind of makes me want to play it again. Maybe I'll borrow a TV and plug in my PS and see what happens with it. I'm also torn between 7 and 10, because they were both phenomenal games.

I've only played/completed FFVII, FFX, and FFX-2. I liked 'em all, though X-2 didn't have too much substance to it.

I thought it had a blockbuster storyline. I was on the virge of tears when I beat the game.
I really REALLY enjoyed the game. The game seemed like a non-stop movie with the voice acting. The voices fit perfectly. Each character had distinct personalities. Finally, the graphics were MINDBLOWING. Especially the FMV scenes.
Don't try to act like some hardcore RPGer and say the game sucked. It was outstanding.

I was a hardcore RPGer, and as much as I wanted to hate FFX, it was too epic for me to do anything BUT like.

not te mentioned I lit that sphere grid up.

Whenever sang my songs, on the stage, on my own.
Whenever said my words, wishing they would be heard.
I saw you smiling at me, was it real, or just my fantasy?
You'd always be there in the corner, of this tiny little bar.

My last night here for you, same old songs, just once more.
My last night here with you? Maybe yes, Maybe no.
I kind of liked it your way, how you shyly placed your eyes on me.
Oh did you ever know, that i had mine on you?

Darling so there you are, with that look on your face.
As if you're never hurt, as if you're never down.
Shall I be the one for you, who pinches you softly but sure,
If frown is shown, then i will know that you are no dreamer.

So let me come to you, close as I want to be.
Close enough for me, to feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as i whisper, how I loved your peaceful eyes on me.
Did you ever know, that I had mine on you?

Darling so share with me, your love if you have enough,
Your tears if you're holding back, of pain if that's what it is.
How can i let you know, I'm more than the dress and the voice.
Just reach me out then, you will know that you're not dreaming.

I've played all the Final Fantasy games except for 2 and 3 (Nes versions, originally released in Japan only. Not to be confused with FF4 and FF6 for SNES). I truly enjoyed every one of them.

FF- The original, great for it's time and actually challenging compared to the others
(Fighter class is the best, hands down)

FFIV- The first one with an epic storyline, and well developed characters. Pretty cliche, but many games have borrowed from this title.
(Cecil and Kain are my favrites)

FFV- Great battle system, with job classes. A lot of fun to play due to the customization.
(Faris because pirates rule)

FFVI- Regarded as the pinnacle of the old school FF's. Not my personal favorite, but this title had a lot going for it. Some great characters (also some less than stellar ones as well), good plot, and the Esper magic learning system allowed some freedom.
(Sabin, Edgar, Locke, Shadow, Terra, Celes, and the villan Kefka were great)

FFVII- The game that popularized rpg's and brought the genre in a new direction. Memorable characters and scenes, impressive use of cinematics, good pacing, and all around fun game to play.
(Red XIII was cool as well as the Turks)

FFVIII- Took the cinematic sci-fi feel and emotional storyline to an entire different level than FFVII. This title has some of the greatest high points in the series, but also has some of the lowest lows. Good characters and plot for the most part, but it gets a little ridiculous about 3/4 into the game. Battle system was tedious, with the draw feature just being flat out boring. Still, it's an enjoyable experience and had some interesting concepts.
(Laguna was my favorite character, and his story sequences were the best parts of the game in my opinion)

FFIX- A return to the old medieval style FF titles, this game succeeded in that respect. The story was enjoyable, and the characters seemed fleshed out for the most part, but it just didn't seem to capture the same magic as FF4 or FF6. Though the battle system is plain, the game still holds up.
(Steiner and Vivi)

FFX- This game exceled in every area except one. It was rather linear. But the story telling and pacing were the absolute best in the series. This game just seems to pull you into the experience better than any of the others. The voice acting was average, but hey, it sure beats reading text for 50+ hours. It's my opinion that this game is the pinnacle of the standard FF games.
(I liked all the characters. No exceptions)

FFX-2- Fun game, kind of cheesy though. It pales in comparison to FFX, but it's worth the playthrough if you enjoyed the previous title. That's the best thing about the game, that you get to see what happens to the characters after the events of FFX.
(Three scantily clad female characters, damn I can't choose just one!)

FFXI- Massively Multiplayer Online RPG. I had a blast with this title, and it actually took over my life for quite a while. By the time I gave it up, I had accomplished many things, met a lot of cool people, and logged over 500 gameplay hours. The most fun I've had with any FF, and maybe even any video game besides FFT. Also the most effort required. Even though it's officially the 11th title in the main series, most people don't consider it to be part of it.
(my character of course, as the Paladin class)

FFTactics- Not part of the main series, but this game owns all others. It's a turn based strategy title set on a grid. Think of Final Fantasy meets chess. The storyline was amazing, full of intriguing characters and plot twists. Political theme set in the old days. My personal favorite game of all time.
(Delita and Ramza without a doubt)

With all this said, I'm eagerly anticipating the next game, FFXII. It's being handled by the guy behind FFTactics, and it's going to revolutionize the series.

I was absolutely attached to FFVIII....my god that game was my life for a few months....i beat it twice....Squall's final limit break..Lionheart was the best move in final fantasy history...that game was untouchable....but by respect....FFVII is runner up....then its FFX....I think X declined from the rest of them but to me anything was an improvement from FFVIIII...i played that for a week and quit....it SUCKED....im in the process of FFX-2...but it seems to have declined more from FFX....so im not gonna finish that...im gonna hope FFXII will NOT be the payment plan of FFXI.....because if it is...I will refuse to play it like I did FFXI and like alot of people did to it.....im done rambling

I'm old school. FF4 and FF6 for me (FF2 and FF3 in the US).

Kain was always my favorite character from FF4. In fact, the first handle I started to use for internet stuff was "Dragoon", due to that game.

In FF6, I liked Sabin, Terra, and Gau. I wasted endless hours trying to get Gau every monster on the Veldt. Aspik and Stray could do some serious damage once you get them.

From those games, my vocabulary also shot up like crazy, due to all the names of monsters, weapons, etc. For example, the aforementioned "Aspik", a jellyfish, is similar to the word "aspic", which is a meat jelly.

Im very attached to FF6. I was still in elementary school when this game came out on SNES. Great game, lots of fun, and challenging battle system.

I still play this game through to the end once every couple years, of course it is easy now since i know what do to.

That's because Microsoft stole the FF creator. I trust the Tactics guy to do a good job with XII, though.

And the fighter is the best class in the original FF? What the fuck did you do, put a thief in your party instead of a monk?
