Actor Clifton Collins Jr (Babel) spoke with MTV News about the upcoming "Boondock Saints" sequel, revealing that the new movie is complete and will actually appear in theaters.
"It was going to be released on All Saints Day, because [the film] is called 'All Saints Day'," he said of the November 1st Christian holiday. "But now, what I'm hearing is they want to release it earlier, because it's pretty hot."
He continued: "It's a wild ride - and it's even better than the first one. I saw a rough cut on St. Patrick's Day at Troy Duffy's house, and he's one-upped himself. There are just as many memorable scenes, if not more. And I'm the new Saint."
The new movie pairs Collins with the returning Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus, and ends with a big finale featuring "Boondock" scene-stealer Billy Connolly. "My favorite scene would have to be the showdown with Billy Connolly and myself, Peter Fonda, Norman and Sean," he said. "There's a big showdown in a giant glass house. It's like an Irish 'Enter the Dragon' finale."

i like the first one a lot, but ive been hearing bad things about this one ever since its existence was hinted at like a million years ago. i hope it ends up being good. i dont believe this 'its better than the original' shit for a second though. thats not to say it definitely wont be... but the quote in the first post basically says 'this ones better, IM in it!'
It's "averageness" is what I hate about it. There's barely an original bone in its body, all blatantly aped from other filmmakers' work. Stylistically, it works only if you've never watched a John Woo, QT, or even a fucking Guy Ritchie movie. Willem Dafoe is the only thing keeping it from being a total mess. Which, it kinda is anyway.

I'm not saying the 1st was was "good cinema" or original, but for what it was it was good. I liked the Boston setting, the utter stupidity of the set up, and the campy performances. It's a perfect stupid mess of a movie.
The toilet bowl scene, the poker night scene and the courtroom scene are all great great.

My disinterest in the first film was strong enough so as to make me want to make this post and pile on a little. I can't possibly imagine someone over the age of 22 watching that flick for the first time and thinking it was good.
