I'm intrigued by this as well, mostly because it reminds me of:

Pretty sure the Akira remake is going to be awful, which is one reason I hope this is good. Seems to be in the same spirit without doing stupid shit like casting Keanu Reeves as Kaneda.

That was a rumor I read. Apparently they're using all white actors and it will be set in Neo-NYC. Sounds pretty terrible.

Reminds me of a book series I read when I was younger where three teenagers touch a meteor and then gain superpowers. The similarities are pretty amazing, minus the rampage the one guy starts in the flick. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Google, for all its searching prowess, sucks at trying to find things when you don't know what they are.

88% on Rotten Tomatoes, I'm there.

It's looking like it's exactly what I'd hoped it would be, definitely catching it in the theater.

The marketing for this film in the UK makes it look like a typical american teen thriller / horror film. Is that the best way to explain it?

Not a typical American teen movie at all, really.

If that's the case, why market it as the typical trash?

I don't understand that industry.

:?:

I don't really think it was marketed in a dumb manner. Anything specific you're talking about?

Saw the Director(and writer?) last night being interviewed and he was pushing the 'found footage' aspect of it. Which might work but cmon, we've been eating that stuff for years now. The reviewers(whom i trust) said this aspect was it's undoing, particularly a tag along girlfriend filming everything, it's all to a loss it seems. I'm still hopeful for it but it could as easily be awfully good or just awful.

Hmm, I didn't pick up on the found footage angle from the trailers. That's disappointing.
