I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to watch Jaws... probably not the best idea, but I didn't get scared at all :( which is kinda the point isn't it? That shark was fucking huge though... I haven't seen it for ages so I forgot that Quint gets eaten  so gross. So is anyone still scared by this movie? Although I wasn't really, it'd probably be a different story if I was going to the beach today.

It's my favourite film of all time.

It doesn't scare me when watching it really, since I'm used to having seen it so many times, but there are certain aspects of it that I find quite horrifying if I step back and think about it. And yes if I was on a beach, I might be thinking about things like that...

It tend to get a fright when the shark just pops up out of the water unexpectedly. It makes me squeal like a little girl. I did think though, that the shark coulda been a little bigger?

I must've been ten when I first saw it, even then it didn't scare me at all. I fucking loved it though, must've watched 40 times, and I still think it's an amazingly good film, just not a scary one.

Robert Shaw makes that whole movie. I don't think it would be half as good without him. The only other movie I've seen him in is The Sting(where he also shines). I wonder whatever happened to that guy and if he was in any other popular movies that i might have missed

I believe he passed away.

He posts on RM all the time.

Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws looks like he could be my biology lecturer's twin. They have the same glasses and eveything. It's uncanny.

Yeah, he passed away in 1978.

He was in a bunch of movies, but the only other one I remember him in is "the Deep", another Peter Benchley book made into a movie--only it wasn't so good. In that case, yes he certainly carried the movie. I disagree with Clubber about his same point for Jaws though. He's a huge part of the movie, but only one part and didn't carry it alone. Everyone involved did a great job.

It doesn't scare me anymore, but it is probably the perfect film. It just gets everything right. I love that fucking movie. To take a mechanical shark that doesn't work, a young filmmaker, and a mostly unknown cast, and make such a piece of wonderful creamy goodness, Spielberg should get his 72 virgins in the afterlife.

Shaw rocks in Jaws. He is one of my favorite actors, but he was in a lot of shit movies in his career. People should check out Black Sunday, The Sting, and Battle of the Bulge for other great Shaw performances.

I first saw the movie when I was about 8 or so. I made sure that I slept with my arms right near me after that. If they hung over the bed I thought a shark in some way could come and eat them, even though my floor was hardwood, and this was in suburban NJ. I'm a little anxious when I'm near big bodies of water because of this movie, but one day, one day, by golly, I'll be a scuba diver, and hang out with the fish (the ones that won't eat me :D )

and its gone right to my head

hey, i didnt want to start a new thread so i figured id bring this one back to ask a question.
Jaws 3 was on last night and as usual i have to watch it because of how cheese the special effects look, and i noticed some stuff that for some reason i hadnt noticed before.
so was jaws 3 a 3D movie when it was first in the theater? im thinking it probably wat because when the shark explodes super fake stuff comes at the screen and kinda sits there. but i was thinking that if it was in 3D in the theater then that would explain alot about why the movie looks kinda bad now, like how fake it looks as the shark is comming at the control room and breaking the glass.
hopeing someone knows

Yeah, it was actually called "Jaws 3D" when it was in the theatres.

When I was a kid, I liked this movie. But the 1st Jaws is still the only one that should have ever happened.
