the scene with the legless zombie dragging herself across the field was kind of sad. i think its the first time i've had any sympathy for a zombie. did i mention these are the best looking zombies ever filmed?
I thought that scene was quite brilliant and was the moment I really latched onto the show, it was the moment it become more than a long format 28 Days Later.

that was fuckin depressing, the fact that he went back there just to kill (give peace) the zombie was the highlight of the episode for me
To me, even though he had already killed a zombie it seemed like it was that scene where his character truly came to terms with what was happening. Just from how he sat there and studied her for a minute before he put a bullet in her skull.

Good stuff; I am very curious to see how this goes plot-wise.
was anyone else disappointed when you saw that his partner was still alive? In the second scene where they are in the car I was hoping he would be one of the first zombie victims. Now not only is he alive, he's fucking the main character's wife. What a wife though. He was in a coma not dead and not infected and she was just like fuck it and went with his partner.

I knew it was coming because I read the first two of the graphic novels. However, in the comics, they don't reveal that his wife is alive quite this soon. I thought it was a strange decision to reveal it this early - you'd think it would lead to more tension, but it would've been revealed in either the next episode or the one after that.

I just finished watching the pilot, I loved it.
and yeah I agree I didn't think they'd reveal the whereabouts of the wife and child so soon, but guess you have to get all the characters shown in the pilot since this graphic novel, and I'd think series is going to be CHARACTER driven.
I love it, now I want to go back and reread my graphic novels of this.
I love this. It's everything I hoped it would be (well, so far) and everything I wanted the comic to be. It's so much better than the comic, which is not well written at all. The comic is really good from a plot, character-arc and idea standpoint, but Kirkman is just not a good writer when it comes to people. There's so much exposition in the comic's dialogue, and the characters don't talk the way people talk. I stopped reading after two trades.
Daramont and co. corrected all of that, and made the narrative primarily visual, made the characters feel real, and it excels at juggling the horrific nature of the situation with grace and real humanity. This just feel right. That cross-cutting stretch dealing with the father sniping and Rick putting the half-zombie out of its misery is such a masterstroke of storytelling that I must have watched it 5 times.
I'm not even going to read any of the other comics, despite my excitement for the TV series. I'll take what Darabont's team gives me, fresh.
