This sounds like it should be pretty good.

Earth has reached Alpha Centauri, and found life. The most "advanced" lifeforms are like "primitive" rainforest indians. It's still extremely expensive to go to Alpha Centauri, but the rewards are equally insane: A super conductor metal, unobainium, exists in abundance, and its price is high enough to warrant sending missions to the remote star system.
Equally, humans have found anti bodies for a lot of human diseases on the planet, and brought them home to sell as expensive medicine. Humanity, thus, has a "hard" reason to go to Alpha Centauri (Unobtainium) and a "soft" reason (discover more about the planet and see if more antibodies, or equally rewarding products, could be derived from the planet system.
Earth itself is wallowing in filth, and shutting down. Josh, our hero, scrapes by and after his identical twin dies, life just cannot get any worse. But that is when he is informed that his twin was actually of the few humans who succesfully managed to "control" a genetic fuse between a human and the indiginous "primitive" race. His identical twin was a "handler" and because Josh shared the same genetic footprint, he is needed to replace his deceased twin and "handle" (mind-control) this creature.
Of course he agrees, and off to Alpha Centauri he goes. Turns out life in this "other body" is much better than his real life, and when he finds out that humans aren't intending the new planet any good, he becomes a fighter for the other side and along the way makes some startling discoveries (and finds, yes yes, love).
Does Cameron's AVATAR have some bugs in its effects system? Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Hot on the heels of James Cameron's Cine Expo pimping of D-cinema comes this juicy rumor about the direction he's going in terms of effects for AVATAR. This is still classified as a rumor, but I have had this confirmed by other sources. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on this one panning out. Looks like WETA (LOTR, KONG) is doing the effects for AVATAR, which will be done 100% motion-capture and will be completely digital. Their mo-cap work is easily the best in the business (just look at Gollum and Kong himself if you need evidence) and this is nothing but good news. However, and it may just be me, I am a little sad to hear Cameron going 100% digital. I love good mo-cap work just as much as the next guy, but Cameron's eye for capturing real life has been very important to my movie geek up-bringing. I trust him as a filmmaker, though, so I'm more than willing to take this ride with him. Enjoy the juicy rumors below... of them, the Weta stuff is the only thing I've confirmed. That budget and VFX supervisor I can't vouche for. Enjoy, though!

Hi Harry, first time scooper, but I've been with you since 1997 (btw, I STILL remember that hilarious rumor of ID4 part 2: Fantastic Voyage with Jeff Goldblum). Also, I apologize if this is nothing you don't already know.
I overheard some news from a crew member working on James Cameron's AVATAR. I admit it's not much, but here's what I heard from my source:
Apparently James Cameron has hired the visual effects supervisor from MASTER AND COMMANDER to fill that duty on AVATAR. Now, I thought I overheard my source saying the guy's name was Peter something, but I went to IMDB and looked under MASTER AND COMMANDER's vfx crew and didn't find any Peters in the bunch. But I'm sure it's indeed somebody from MASTER AND COMMANDER. You might want to ask your close circle of sources about this.
More importantly, Weta is doing the visual effects, some 2000 effects shots in all. The film right now is budgeted at $315 million. That sounds like a lot, but then, the success of TITANIC has given Cameron carte blanche with regard to budget. The film is indeed scheduled for a 2008 release. Cameron currently has effects tests on his laptop that he's showing around to crew members to entice them to come aboard the project.
That's all I have, but I hope this helps.
If you use this, call me Mr. Mystery.

I can't wait for Cameron's return to feature filmmaking. Say what you want about Titanic (I think its a monumental achievement) but he's at his best when he finds an affecting human tale in the midst of heavy sci-fi. Plus he always delivers the goods cinematically.
Dude, Aquaman's done. It beat out Spider-Man for the best box office weekend ever.
Ahh... I haven't seen any of season 3 yet.
I haven't either ... I need to get re-caught up on the end of season 2 and I haven't had the chance. I'm glad this show is back, because I *HATE* Lucky Louis.
The large HD teaser really looks good; the standard res file make everything look overly CG.
I'm digging it, albeit less than I was hoping for. This is all going to come down to the performances of the animated characters. It's why Gollum was so accepted. He wasn't "photo-real" but Andy Serkis' performance was the goods. If the performances are good (and the story) I think we've got a winner on our hands.
But yeah, it does look like it took a page out of the Dances with Wolves/Last Samurai playbook. But, it's Cameron, so I'm there.
That's including the camera technology development and subsidizing theaters to upgrade their projectors... but yes. Apparently the camera adds depth into the screen as opposed to bringing elements out of it.
