Franco is a damn good actor, but this seems like a bad idea, if nothing else because now I won't be able to talk about Blood Meridian and sound deep.
Spoiler: show
Gotta read this shit before it becomes the new "it" book

And "As I Lay Dying". The son of a bitch is doing two of my favorite books. I gotta get to LA or New York quick. If this ain't a sign to get my ass moving then I don't know what is.

I really can't see a beginning director pulling off "Blood Meridian" but you know what? Fuck it, I respect his ambition. I thought Todd Field was helming that though?

Wow.

Good luck, Franco. Don't fuck it up.

As much as I love this book, I hate to see the dude fuck it up.

If he doesn't use Ben Nichols (from the band Lucero) music, it is a sure sign that shit ain't right.

If y'all haven't heard that EP, and you are a fan of Blood Meridian, check it out.... http://www.amazon.com/Last-Pale-Light-W ... B001MW0IWU

Nick Cave already did it, music, script and all, and he didn't even bother making his movie an adaptation. The Proposition captured the essence of Blood Meridian better than Franco can hope to.

I saw The Proposition before reading Blood Meridian, but I definitely thought of the film as I read the book.

Wallstreet Journal November 13th, 2009 (Cormac Mccarthy)

People have said "Blood Meridian" is unfilmable beause of the sheer darkness and violence of the story.

CM: That's all crap. The fact that's it's a bleak and bloody story has nothing to do with whether or not you can put it on the screen. That's not the issue. The issue is it would be very difficult to do and would require someone with a bountiful imagination and a lot of balls. But the payoff could be extraordinary.

probably.

Judge Holden--William Holden. Band of murdering outlaws near the Mexico border.

Probably just coincidence.

he'd probably shake his head and wonder why today's youth is so sick and moronic.

He also has a love affair with the movie Five Easy Pieces and I can see him using some of that in "Suttree". But we don't have a thread for that film.
