Kevin Costner.

As Johnathan Kent? I don't mind one bit.
As Perry White? I have reservations but I'm open.
As Jor El or anyone else...? GET THE FUCK OUT.

Has it been confirmed that he's Jonathan Kent?

Superman is way too pompous and over powered.

For example, Superman is supposed to be extremely intelligent, but since he can outmuscle everything, we never have a chance to perceive him being smart.

You're right, it's obvious that nobody could ever come up with 80 years' worth of stories for a character this weak.

Rumors are that Viggo Mortensen is being considered for Zod and Daniel Day Lewis for Luthor.

this from Zack Snyder, "Respect the canon but don’t be a slave to the movies" has me excited for this movie.

It's been largely assumed up til now, but Kevin Costner as Pa Kent is officially confirmed.

Also, Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Did we know that already? I somehow missed that up to this point....

Yea, I first started seeing Diane Lane's name a few weeks ago (& I think it was already confirmed at that point).

And while my initial idea for Zod was Jude Law, I think Viggo's a great choice as well. That's curious about DDL possibly for Luthor, most places I've read from what is thought to be the storyline, Lex wouldn't make an appearance.

Btw, I never watched Smallville, but over time they wound up rewriting a fair bit of canon, yes? Because as best I understood it, Clarke certainly never had met either Lois or Lex anytime before he first went to Metropolis as an adult.

Smallville is a different animal, yes. They definately took things in different directions and took a lot of liberties with the Superman cannon.

DDL... ? I don't buy it. We'll see, but that just smells of bs to me for some reason. But I suppose stranger things have happened.
