This seems like it'll go down like Superman Returns. People will be into it until it hits theaters. It'll make bank at the box office for a few weeks, and then with time it'll fade into memory and become one giant "meh." Its really hard to recapture and top the charisma Christopher Reeve had. If you disregard the lame effects from decades ago, that dude just looked like you'd expect Superman to look.

If the new guy brings anything, it might be acting ability solely based on how well Nolan's Batman movies have fared using English actors.

I've talked about this a lot before, but I realized a new wrinkle to it. If the superhero in question has more of a heroic personality, it's always a an Australian/British guy (Batman, Superman, Thor). If he's more realistic and sarcastic, it's more often an American guy (Spiderman, Iron Man). Although there are exceptions to this as well (Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, for instance), it seems to hold pretty well. It's just a difference in how acting is taught and who takes up acting in different areas, really.

And now a Brit is Spider-Man.

I think it does, more or less. The explanation for why it's happening definitely does.

there is no superhero more sarcastic than spiderman, so the explanation is a fail

Sigh. He was played by an American though. And this iteration seems more more heroic and less realistic. Deadpool is another good example. Like I said though, the British style of acting/training is just much more conducive to casting these heroic characters.

His point is that this time around the theatrical Spider-man seems to be more heroic and serious. So his point is a valid one.

The best thing about that trailer? The Thin Red Line music score and the Malick-esque imagery at the beginning. Hell yeah!
