After seeing the trailer, it has begun to strike me too that telling this same origins story just ten years after the last one is a little odd. Frankly, that trailer was boring, mainly because it looked like a trailer for Spiderman 2002 with new actors and a new scene with a little kid.

That's all true, but you know you'll watch it.

yeah, i'm w/ argo, i've heard this story... too recently. re-starting batman was well timed, this, not so much.

Yeah, and was it Andrew Garfield that was going on about how "this isn't a reboot, it's a new chapter"? I'd say if you're redoing the origin that's a pretty big reboot right there.

I actually found the trailer to indicate a new direction; not in the story, obviously, but in the tone and approach. As with anything, it's not really about what you tell, but how.

I'm on board. This will be interesting.

I felt this way for about 3/4 of the trailer but then when they did the POV of him jumping around...my gut told me this will be more of the same.

As stated previously I just dont feel this is the right time for a reboot. They just...started this fucking franchise...Feels...desperate.

Or maybe I just dont find the spiderman character interesting.

I'm with you. I don't get it either. I mean, it's been within the decade since Spidy hit the big screen...if this was the year 2020 or something then maybe, but this just seems unnecessary.

I love how for the Comic Con panel, they've just "confirmed" Ifans as playing specifically the Lizard as the villain. Well if that's the case it was the worst kept secret in Hollywood. Everyone's known that for months.

Mind you I haven't heard from my older brother on this yet for what he thinks of this trailer (him being the most hardcore longtime Spidey fan in my life), but I do know enough after all these years that the character of Peter Parker was never intended to be all angst-y like Bruce Wayne or anything. Not that I'm writing the project off from this teaser, not in the least, but I suppose I can understand how the more dedicated fanboys might be a little turned off by the tone presented here.

Is it weird of me to not catagorize my family and friends by their level of spiderman fandom?

oh not only that, I have a category of each of my friends and family by the fandom of every comic book superhero character. I got an excel spreadsheet around here somewheres, I can email it to you.

No, because I bear no resemblance to a robot. Kind of like how sitting on a sofa wouldn't make you a cushion.

the trailer looks ok i guess but between this being an origin story and the bullshit villain of the lizard i really cant get excited for this at all

i saw his parents make an appearance in the trailer, but then i read that they cant use the name SHIELD legally so whats even the point
