Yeah but probably pretty spot on. 'The Lizard' doesn't really inspire much fear and dread in my heart. I own three as pets.

It doesn't matter, he's gonna be an overgrown version of my favourite animal.

Same reason I'm not scared of Werewolves. They're just giant dogs.

It actually began a couple of years ago, and was cancelled earlier this year.

This could have been a response to samwise's post.

So I am confused. are they restarting the story, a la batman begins, or are they simply re-vamping the cast and plot in the middle of a random story thread?

We don't need Origins, FKK.

Do you agree Peeps?

Spidey's origins are fairly straightforward. I hope they go with synthetic webbing this time.

There's a teaser trailer for the original Raimi Spidey that had a not long life online waaaay back at the beginning, that I'm not sure a majority of the fans know about (& I still have the actual video saved somewhere) and I'm not talking about the WTC one, where he traps a bad guy helicopter in a web between the two towers, but it has some very early footage (& in fact some of the text in it heralds the "visionary special FX" or whatever, but there's a quick shot in there of Peter in his room first trying out shooting webs, but the key element being he's doing it via a little mechanical device wrapped around his wrist that he'd built. So at least for a time near the start, Raimi was going with the idea that the webs weren't organic for Peter.

It was back around then that I first even learned the difference between the comic and the movie (well, how it ended up) my older brother was telling me about it, he was huge into comics growing up, Spidey was always his favorite, and explaining to me that the organic webbing was purely a film invention, that in the original canon it was a device that Peter made himself, considering he was extremely intelligent in that arena.

edit: god and I was just thinking, remember back in the late 90's when the property was still so wrapped up in this insane legal battle for the rights and James Cameron was trying so hard to bring it to the screen? I wonder where we'd be now if Cameron ever got to make his Spiderman in the first place.

tl;dr there was a trailer showing the synthetic webbing.

Never underestimate the utility of a web capsule exploding.

I'm sorry that you've got the attention span apparently of a fruit fly (though that puts you only in about the 93 percentile of the rest of the internet.

And for the record I have no idea what you're talking about with the 2nd sentence. Not that I even necessarily need to know, just saying.
