Well, Strat, I'd rank Spider-Man 2 in my top 5 comic book/superhero films list. Same goes for the first two X-Men films.

But, mostly, yes, you're right. BB and TDK are where it's at. Iron Man is also pretty neat.

Just curious (& this is to pretty much everyone) how would you rank the following films:

Incredible Hulk (Norton version of course)
Iron Man 2
Spiderman 1
Spiderman 3
X-Men 3
Watchmen

(my logic being, it would seem from my POV over the years the general consensus is that Iron Man 1, Spidey 2, BB and Dark Knight are all above that list of choices)

I'd actually say Watchmen is above the others. But I think

Watchmen
IM2
Hulk
Spiderman 1
X-Men3
Spiderman 3

I actually like the Ang Lee version of Hulk better than the Norton version. As bad as it is, it's got that awesomely over-the-top Nick Nolte performance, while The Incredible Norton was just... bland.

That said,

Watchmen (which isn't to say I think it's a good movie; I think it works much better as a comic book)
Spiderman 1
Hulk (Eric Bana)
Hulk (Ed Norton)
X-Men 3
Spiderman 3

Haven't seen IM2.

I like the Ang Lee version as well. I like the psychological angle. I like the stylistic flourishes - the comic frames appearing on the screen. Although the Norton version has more action, I don't remember anything interesting about his character. The film was a cookie-cutter comic book film. If that's what comic book fans like (movies which are the same as all the other movies), fine, but I didn't.

Saw Iron Man film recently, found it excellent. The music, cinematography, but also the realism, warmth and humour in the central performance. He's having a hell of a time being Iron Man, and it shows.

I'm starting to wonder if the Hulk concept as a whole wouldn't simply work better in TV series format than feature film (not advocating they necessarily should try to do that, just saying). Either that, maybe only as a full trilogy but one that's created as a trilogy from the start from the same creative team and shows a true continuing arc all the way.

I'm digging that there's no security on the set. And that they aren't going 100% CGI.

Actually, there's been talks in recent months that the Hulk will be returning to TV. I don't know how they'll make it work with a TV budget, unless they go the Lou Ferigno route.

Wow...I knew there were others out there somewhere. I enjoyed the first Hulk film so much more than the typical action-packed second...and for the exact reasons you list. To me, Bana played his role of Banner perfectly. Norton and that second flick was just boring.

Do you mean:

"I don't like the alterations one bit."

or

"They altered the costume a bit, and I don't like it."

??

I agree 100%.

So, I didn't even know Spiderman was getting a reboot...Why are they doing this? It's not like the Toby ones were awful (well 3 sucked, but 1 and 2 were great). Isn't it kinda soon? Seems like a reboot should be in the distant future (5 to 10 years from now). This just seems odd.

They're probably planning a reboot of the reboot, to be released pretty soon, and this is just the prequel.

I really hate that this is going to be an ORIGIN story. Plus I've heard that's its going to have a clusterfuck of villains as well.
