It was a bad choice of words.

I just wish all of his movies looked as authentic as how the 1970's looked in Munich

I love Munich

1939 Poland in Schindler's List

Do you know what 1939 Poland actually looked like?

And I hope the race thing isn't played out as much, but it probably will be. The freeing of slaves was not the purpose of the war.

I wonder if they'll go into his affair with Sally Hemmings.

Holding the Union together by any means necessary. And if that meant the south keeping slaves that would have been okay.

This looks exactly how I feared it would. Maybe it's just a dumb trailer. Still... I'll see it for the performances, for the cast. But probably won't pay movie theater money for it. Looks like a Netflixer.

Keeping slavery from spreading was the main goal at the beginning, but Lincoln grew to hate slavery more and more as time wore on and by the end, he clearly wanted to abolish it altogether.

What I find disturbing is that the people in the north could care less about the state of slaves in the south. As you said, they just didn't want slaves spreading to the north.

As someone who leans left myself, it is fascinating how someone who "freed the slaves," really had a "conservative" ideology. I'm not sure his views on slavery had anything to do with human decency. I just think he had a really problem with people not being "free" in America.

Historians like to point out that he was abused physically and emotionally by his uneducated, bitter father. Lincoln led a laborious childhood, so maybe he saw shards of his own life in the life of slaves?

I was pretty mad they left this element of his life out of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

They're saving it for Terrence Malick's upcoming producing project, Green Blade Rising, which stars Diane Kruger as Lincoln's loving step mother and teacher.
